Ohio State continues to add talent to the
offensive side of the football, and
Cleveland St. Ignatius tight end Blake
Thomas became the latest commitment to the
2012 Buckeye recruiting class.
Thomas, 6-foot-4, 240-pounds, becomes the
newest offensive commit, following Jacoby
Boren, Warren Ball, Brionte Dunn and Frank
Epotropoulos. The lone defensive commit to
date is Joshua Perry, a linebacker from
Olentangy.
After receiving the offer from Ohio State
last Thursday, Thomas indicated it might not
be too long before he accepted the offer,
and he certainly did just that in issuing
his commitment within a few days.
"It's probably been the dream of every high
school player in this state to play for Ohio
State," he admitted. "This was the offer I
wanted, and it was too good to pass up. I
loved the campus and the people down at Ohio
State when I visited, so I sure didn't see
any reason to wait to commit."
Thomas was used primarily as a blocker as a
junior at St. Ignatius, but has shown
impressive pass-catching skills. Ohio State
currently has two juniors at the tight end
position, Jake Stoneburner and Reid Fragel,
and the Buckeyes also list two freshman,
Jeff Heuerman and Nick Vannett, on the
roster.
