6-foot-2, 225 pound linebacker Luke Roberts grew up in Ohio and has watched Ohio State throughout the years. On Wednesday afternoon, he added his name to the Ohio State family by committing to the Buckeyes.

The senior got the offer from the Buckeyes 2 weeks ago, and was still considering Purdue and Arizona, but after visiting Columbus, he knew that Ohio State was the place for him.

“Just how I fit in both academically and athletically. I want to major in business and they have a great business school. And being from Ohio, Ohio State is a big deal around where I live. It has a great tradition with both the players and the coaches.”

When the senior was ready to commit, he said his parents were thrilled with the news.

“They were really excited for me. They’re very supportive of my decision. And the coaches were extremely pleased. They were all excited for me.”

Roberts hopes to make it to Columbus for a few games this season. But other than that, he’s ready to finish out his high school career.

“It’s a huge weight of off my shoulders. I can focus more on my team and having a successful season now that I don’t have to worry about recruiting. I’m ecstatic. I’m so happy. Words can’t really describe how it feels to be a Buckeye.”

Roberts picked the Buckeyes over Arizona, Cincinnati, Indiana, Purdue, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Kent State and Ohio.
