Ohio State landed three-star wide receiver
Roger Lewis out of Pickerington (OH) Central
Tuesday morning, when he notified Buckeye
head coach Luke Fickell of his intent.
"I did commit to Ohio State today," Lewis
stated excitedly. "I guess dreams come true,
because this is what I've dreamed of since I
started playing football. I called Coach
Fickell today and told him I wanted to be a
Buckeye."
"Coach Fickell was very excited," he added.
"I always wanted to do this before the
season, so today was the day. Now, I can
play football close to mom and my sisters.
Coach Fickell told me that now I have a
responsibility to make great decisions,
because people will be watching me."
Lewis, 6-foot-2, 190-pounds, was basically
an unknown last winter, and he entered the
camp and combine season with no offers. As
people saw him in person, his talent was
apparent and he ended up with double digit
offers.
"I know a lot of the other Ohio State
commits, because so many of them are from
the Columbus area," he explained. "I've
known Warren Ball for a long time, since I
was a little kid. I also know Frank
Epitropoulos from running track."
"My mom is so happy and so proud, and that
makes me feel great," he continued. "The
pressure is off now, and I concentrate on
having a great senior season for my team. I
can't begin to explain how good this feels."
Lewis is the 12th commit for the 2012
recruiting class at Ohio State, and he is
the seventh from the Columbus area,
following Ball, Epitropoulos, Joshua Perry,
Jacoby Boren, Luke Roberts and Patrick
Elflein.
