Barron Collier Tight End Jeff Heuerman has
been collecting offers on a weekly basis
since the beginning of the year. The 6'5,
230 pound athlete has had a busy couple of
months, he competed in various 7on7 camps
and visited a number of schools unofficially
including LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Miami,
Notre Dame, Michigan, and Ohio State.
Last weekend he was one of five Florida
visitors at the Ohio State Spring game and
left Columbus with a pretty good idea where
he was heading. After a few days back in
Southwest Florida, he knew what he wanted to
do, “I committed to Ohio State, I just spoke
with Coach Tressel, just about all the
coaches, I'm a Buckeye” said Heuerman. “I
just really felt at home with the coaches,
the team, the players, it is a perfect fit
for me.”
Heuerman had previously shown strong
interest in LSU, Tennessee, and Notre Dame
at various times, what separated OSU from
the pack? “I really liked all those places,
they are great programs and universities, I
just fell in love with Ohio State and the
city of Columbus.”
An interesting dynamic to this decision is
that Jeff's father, Paul, played Center in
basketball at Michigan of all places, and
Jeff had strong interest in the Wolverines,
“I'm pretty sure my father will be on my
side now, at least I would hope so. I think
my skill set is better suited at Ohio State
than at Michigan, it was something I have
thought a lot about, the way I can see
myself being used and contributing, I think
that style of offense is Ohio State.”
