Comments:   On the last weekend before the start of the 2009 football season, Ohio State picked up a new weapon for 2010 and beyond.

Ohio State picked up the 12th verbal commitment of the class of 2010 when four-star in-state receiver Tyrone Williams made his decision.

Williams had given some thought to taking visits in the fall, but that plan was scrapped after talking to his family.

"I was going to wait and see some other schools but after talking to my mom I decided to do it today," he said. "My mom and I visited with the coaches a few weeks ago and that was the deciding factor. My mom is glad I'm going to be close to home and she will be able to see me play."

Williams plays wide receiver for East Cleveland Shaw and is being recruited to play that position at Ohio State.

"The coaches didn't mention playing tight end at all," Williams said. "They are recruiting me as a wide receiver only. They liked my ability to go get the football. I can use my size and speed to my advantage. I haven't run a forty in over a year but I was timed at 4.55 before my junior year."

Scout.com ranks Williams the No. 33 receiver in the country. He also had offers from Cincinnati and West Virginia as well as interest from many other schools.
