One of the
nations top tailbacks coming out of Naples
High [Fla.] in 2009, Hyde was forced to
attend Fork Union Military Academy because
he did not qualify academically.
After taking an official visit to Ohio
State, Hyde is now set to be a Buckeye as he
has been admitted to the university.
Although Hyde
was ranked as the top fullback prospect in
the country by Scout.com, Hyde’s future in
Columbus will be carrying the mail instead
of opening holes. With Dan Herron (5-10, 193
pounds), Brandon Saine (6-1, 217) and Jaamal
Berry (5-11, 195) already on the
roster, the Buckeyes have an abundance of
small, speed tailbacks.
What they are lacking is a big, bruiser to
take the place of Chris “Beanie” Wells, last
year’s leading rusher. The hope is that Hyde
will step into that role and contribute.
Hyde will be the only member of the 2010
recruiting class enrolling early and he will
have four years of eligibility remaining.
