Detroit Southeastern's Johnathan Hankins committed to Ohio State at his school's basketball game today. He gave his verbal to the Buckeyes over offers from Florida, Michigan, Oklahoma, Virginia and several others.

"It feels great," he said of his decision, "Coach Tressel and the coaching staff and the players have a good relationship and I feel like I can be that. I can play for them for four years and after the four years, I can still depend on them."

Now Hankins will get to play against his high school teammate, William Gholston, who has committed to Michigan State.

"He's talking trash right now like he always does, but we're going to see if he's really talking. It's not like we're going to line up against each other, but it will be good to see him."

After much deliberation and plenty of time spent on the road, meeting with coaches and talking it over with his parents and coaches, Hankins is finally finished, for all intents and purposes, with his recruitment and that itself is a big relief.

"It feels good, because it seemed like the pressure was building up on my family," he admitted. "My mom and dad was getting frustrated and tired of seeing coaches, but the coaching staff at my school helped them out and they were a major impact for me. I have to thank them. It was a lot of pressure on my family and it's good to get it out of the way."

Hankins was an All-City selection as a junior after starting at offensive tackle and defensive tackle. In that year, he made 87 tackles (13 for loss) and had five sacks. He improved on those numbers as a senior, collecting 18 sacks.
