The offer came from Ohio State and Drew Basil wasted little time in taking an unofficial visit to see what the Buckeyes had to offer.

“I’ve committed to Ohio State,” Basil said by phone.”

For Basil offers started to pour in as he made the rounds to several colleges the past month. With programs like Cincinnati, Kentucky, Purdue and Ohio State all offering the Chillicothe (Ohio) native knew it was time to react.

Basil, who has been working with former Ohio State kicker Tim Williams had dreams of being a Buckeye but understood many college teams don’t like to offer kickers.

That changed when Basil called OSU head coach Jim Tressel on June 27th and was offered. While Tressel made sure the kicker felt no pressure, Basil knew a kicker being offered by Ohio State is something to act upon.
