~Bucks and Buffs to Play in 2011
Ohio
State and Colorado will meet on the football field Sept. 24,
2011, at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, the two schools announced
today. "The matchup with the Buffaloes gives Buckeye fans
just another reason to anticipate the 2011 season," Ohio
State coach Jim Tressel said. Ohio State will pay the
Buffaloes $1.4 million for the one-time matchup. The
two schools last met in football in 1986. Ohio State leads
the all-time series by a 3-1 margin, including a Buckeyes'
victory in the 1977 Orange Bowl.
~2011 Class Continues to Grow
Ohio
State has accepted the commitment of
Massillon (Ohio) Washington wide receiver
Devin Smith, the 15th commitment to the
Buckeyes' 2011 recruiting class. Smith,
one of the top prospects in Ohio, received
his offer after an impressive performance at
Ohio State's senior camp. Smith transferred
from Akron (Ohio) Ellet after his sophomore
season. As a junior, Smith had 989 receiving
yards as a junior, and scored 15 touchdowns,
in helping lead the Tigers deep into the
Ohio playoffs.
~Cheater, Cheater...
This
is Mike Garrett's world, and nobody else is living in it. In
Garrett's world, all logic is circular: USC is never wrong,
therefore USC is never wrong. Nobody else is buying
the denials anymore. Nobody else is buying the delusions.
USC went on a cheating spree, got caught and got sentenced,
and Garrett is still playing the victim. Judging from
the way he has handled this USC scandal, Garrett seems like
the kind of guy who would sucker-punch you in a dark alley,
then sue your face (Read

~Here Come the Huskers
University
of Nebraska officials said Friday that they will apply for
membership in the Big Ten Conference and expect to be
accepted. Chancellor Harvey Perlman disclosed the plan
during a meeting of the university's Board of Regents,
proposing that play in the new conference begin in 2011
after one more year in the Big 12. The Huskers' football
team struggled in the early and mid 2000s but have returned
to national prominence the past two seasons under Bo Pelini,
who is an Ohio State alumnus.
~Lucky #13
Ohio
State has added the 13th member to its 2011 recruiting
class, with the decision of Vernon Hills (ILL) wide receiver
Evan Spencer to become a Buckeye. Spencer led
his team in receiving and scoring as a junior. He finished
second in rushing and tied for the team lead in
interceptions but
he stated that he is being recruited as a wide receiver by
Ohio State. Evan's father, Tim
Spencer, was a running back at Ohio State, coached with the
Buckeyes and is now coaching with the Chicago Bears.
~It's Miller Time for OSU
For
the second time in three years, Ohio State has landed the
nation's top quarterback prospect. On the eve of his
press conference, Miller made a visible commitment to the
OSU program by getting a large Block ‘O’ tattoo on his left
shoulder. He might not be able to sign a national
letter-of-intent until next year, but he already has ink for
the Buckeyes. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound, Miller will
graduate early, and will be enrolling at Ohio State in
January of 2011, to be able to participate in spring
football.
