~Rodriguez to Pay Buyout Clause

Rich Rodriguez has agreed to pay the $4 million buyout clause and settle the lawsuit that West Virginia University filed after he broke his contract in December.  The agreement would end a case that had been set for trial this fall. Rodriguez quit the Mountaineers in December for the head coaching job at Michigan, only a year after extending his contract with WVU. He had argued that WVU broke the contract first by failing to honor certain promises, a charge that WVU has denied.

~Bellbrook Lineman Joins Recruiting Class
Bellbrook (Ohio) offensive lineman Sam Longo made a decision on who would be his family for the next several years. Fresh off of picking up an Ohio State offer the 6-foot-5, 270-pounder didn't need too long to figure out where he wanted to play his college football. That will continue a relationship that began when Sam's father, Gene, played linebacker at Miami University in 1980. Tressel was on that staff, coaching quarterbacks and receivers.  Gene then transferred to Ohio State in 1981.

~Glenville Recruiting Pipeline Still Flowing
Jonathan Newsome, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker from Cleveland Glenville, became the 23rd commitment to Ohio State's fast-filling 2009 recruiting class. He got back a few days earlier from his high school coach Ted Ginn Sr.'s annual bus tour, in which Ginn takes prospects to college summer football camps across the Midwest. "On that tour I saw a lot of schools, and I didn't think I could really see myself at some of those places," said Newsome. "I've liked Ohio State the most."

~Dublin Scioto Safety Makes It 22
Bradley McDougald, the hart hitting safety from Dublin Scioto made the decision yesterday to become the 22nd commitment to the Ohio  State Buckeye's 2009 class. "I was just ready to get it over with; I didn't want to delay it if I knew where I wanted to go," said McDougald, who is 6 feet 1 and 190 pounds. "I thought I should just come out with it. I was ready to be a Buckeye." "Growing up here, being around it 24/7, it's always been a dream to play for the Buckeyes," McDougald said.

~2009 Recruiting Class Continues To Grow
Ohio State's football recruiting snowball kept rolling downhill when Pennsylvania athlete Corey Brown picked the Buckeyes. Brown, a wide receiver and defensive back from Monroeville, Pa., became the 21st pledge to OSU's 2009 recruiting class. He also became the second player from his school to choose OSU in the past six weeks, joining blue-chip linebacker prospect Dorian Bell.  He had a long list of options, ranging from Michigan, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Alabama and West Virginia.

~Buckeyes Land Florida RB
Carlos Hyde, a running back from Florida, became the 19th commitment to Ohio State's 2009 class. Hyde is a power back along the lines of Chris "Beanie" Wells, and recruiting analyst Bill Kurelic believes Hyde could slide into the void nicely should Wells opt to head for the NFL after his upcoming junior season and said that Carlos is certainly one of the better big backs in the country in this recruiting year. Hyde, who moved to Naples from Cincinnati, still has a lot of family in Ohio.

~Antonio Henton Set To Transfer
It appears Ohio State could head into the 2008 season with no experience at backup quarterback.  Several sources close to the team said that Antonio Henton is expected to transfer to Georgia Southern. If Henton leaves, the job of backing up Todd Boeckman will fall to redshirt freshman Joe Bauserman and true freshman Terrelle Pryor. It appears he decided that playing for Georgia Southern in the Football Championship Subdivision is better than the possibility of being third string this fall.

~Carter Picks Ohio State
Being the son of an Ohio State legend carries a bit more weight around Columbus than usual. But when you're an above-average prospect, the attention increases.  At this year's annual Ohio State spring game, Carter learned that first-hand. St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver Duron Carter hinted that he could become an Ohio State Buckeye very soon. True to his word, the son of former NFL great Cris Carter joined the Buckeye family when he announced his intentions to sign with Ohio State.

"I don't watch what I say... I cannot stand the Buckeyes, and having to live in Ohio and hear those people talk about their team, it drives me absolutely nuts.  "It's amazing to hear what those guys think about that university and that football program and (coach Jim) Tressel and all the crap I've got to put up with being back there.  "I just can't wait for this game to get here, so they can come out to the Coliseum and experience L.A. and get an old fashioned Pac-10 butt-whipping and go back to the Big Ten. I can't wait."

Cincinnati Bengals QB
